my life in pictures and words

bailmer

i went to bern’s the other day to pick up some supplies for paul and thought it wouldn’t hurt to look at their peonies and hydrangeas. and sure enough i found something that i liked. the only problem i had was i didn’t know where i was going to put it.

but when i got home and went outside to look for a place, i found it in an instant. i don’t know what type of bush this is but it was here when we moved in.

i wasn’t too fond of it but i’d kept it since it gave some good ground coverage.

i started out by cutting all the stems back until there was just the stump with small, little stems.

(just because i like to see the big picture too.)

since it’d been dry out i soaked the dirt a bit then i used my handy dandy weasel claw pro to loosen the dirt around the stump.
image

after a few tugs and a few more weasel claw turns i was able to pull the stump out.  look at all those roots!

here is the stump with some of the roots that came up as i pulled it out.

i forgot to take a picture of the plant that will be replacing  the one above so all you get is this.  and yes, it is another hydrangea.

i was so busy digging the hole that i forgot to take pictures.  but basically i dug a hole, filled it with a mix of top soil and the dug out dirt, placed the new hydrangea plant in the hole, and covered it with some packed in top soil.

then i placed some mulch over the soil.

doesn’t it look like a miniature version of my sil-s and bro-m’s plant?

i was wearing my favorite sunglasses while working on this project. the whole time i kept seeing the flowers as a light purple. it was pretty trip-py. until i remembered that it was because the lenses have a red tint to them. so i thought it’d be fun to show you the different colors due to the lenses.

and just in case you don’t believe me…here’s proof.  =)

hope you had a fun time reading about my outside adventures. are you getting outside this spring? changing out any plantage or just planting new ones?
