Primrose Peplum by Sew Caroline

Earlier this month (Feb 2017 – since I’ve been posting makes from a few years back), Caroline from Sew Caroline put out a call for testers for her new pattern. I follow her on Instagram and saw her working on this pattern in the Fall and thought it looked super cute. So when she put a call out for testers, I just had to get in on that!

Before I start into the pictures I want to state that I don’t normally wear blouses/tops like this.  My everyday, most comfortable wear is a knit shirt and loose shorts or leggings.  I don’t like to dress up much, in fact this top is dressy to me.  With that disclaimer I want to say that this pattern has made me want to wear dressier clothes a little more often.  THAT is how easy and how well written this pattern is!

This is my wearable muslin made of a dobby cotton from the now closed Hancock Fabrics.  This is the circle skirt with a hemmed short sleeve. Well, you may be able to see that it’s not actually hemmed, but that’s what this version will be once I finish the hemming.  I was mainly using it for fit purposes.

After finishing the one for fitting, I cut into this crepe that I got from Joann’s.  This time I cut flare sleeves and the gathered skirt.  This was right after I finished hemming the sleeves and skirt.  It is a bit tight so the next time I make one I’ll have to grade between sizes in the waist area.

The easiest place for me to take pictures in a jiffy is the mirror in the bathroom, so please excuse the toilet paper, etc.  It was late and I was playing around seeing what pictures I could take to show off the fit.

I had a friend take some photos for me the next day so you can see the top in all its glory.

I just absolutely LOVE that flare sleeve!

A little goofing off!

This was my first time sewing with darts.  I was a little intimidated but Caroline’s instructions make it simple and easy, no fuss.  These are the front darts.

The back darts with Caroline’s simple yet effective “invisible zipper” insertion.  You don’t have to use an invisible zipper in order to obtain this look, which is super helpful as I probably would’ve taken a lot longer to sew this top.  ps…look at those gathers!  I love them!

This top was made with the tester pieces and have since been updated so it may look slightly different than the final release.

Go now and get the Primrose Peplum pattern!  You’ll thank yourself after you’ve made a few and have a wardrobe ready for work, or fun, or play!  The pattern is on sale through February 19, no code necessary!

Don’t forget to check out the other testers and the awesomeness that they created with this one pattern!  You can find them at Sew Caroline’s blog.
